Are your kitchens units supplied with fittings?

When you order a kitchen from DIY Kitchens, you not only get what you order but we give many of the bits to help you fit it all together, these include:

  • Wall plates for all the wall units to connect the units to the wall
  • Unit connecting bolts
  • Shelf support stands
  • Hing cover clips
  • Unit legs

Most are factory fitted such as the leg bosses, hinges and cabinet hangers, whilst other fittings such as wall plates are supplied in a fittings box as they need to be fitted on site.

This fitting box should be given to your kitchen fitter at the start, so that they have everything that they need to help fit your kitchen.

Please note that we do not supply fittings for connecting worktops. Also, base units do not require wall brackets, just the connecting bolts, which are supplied. With regards to tall larder units, no fittings for these are supplied, you will just need to use a few l-shaped brackets, if the unit needs securing to the wall.

When using the supplied wall plates, what size/length/type of screws do you recommend to attach the wall units to the wall?

Hi, for the wall plates, they need to be 2 1/2″ long screws with a 10mm head.

    Hi
The fittings kit doesn’t seem to contain any means of fixing base units to walls. I was expecting angle brackets. Also the back panels come all the way up to worktop height so there is no gap for a fixing bracket. One of the videos shows the fitter drilling and fixing a corner unit at an acute angle but I can’t find any other reference.
Surely the base units need attaching to walls, especially tall units?
    Cheers Andy

Hi, generally speaking, you do not need to screw the base units to the wall, unless you want to do it for your own peace of mind (no base unit fixings are provided but carcase connecting bolts are). We would advise using the carcase connector bolts to keep the units rigid and in place though, the strength and rigidity will come from the connection. Usually tall units do get attached to the wall.

        Hello,
Regarding your comment ‘usually tall units do get attached to the wall’:
Please would you let me know how and where this should be done. I have a tall larder fridge unit and a tall oven housing unit. Many thanks.

Hi Helen, tall units would be secured to the wall with L-shaped brackets. One end of the bracket attaches to the unit and the other end to the wall (put rawl plugs in the wall for the screws to fix into). You would use these brackets on either side of the unit on the inside, so that they are not seen.

    Hi
Do you do integrated cabinets for tall larder fridges and the same for freezers? We are interested in the handle less gloss cabinets.

      Hi,

A small Philips screwdriver should be enough to make any necessary adjustments

I had my kitchen delivered on Friday, included in the box of fittings were several small black rubber items. These were approximately 50mm long, 8mm wide and 5mm deep, with a hole at each end.

Please can you confirm what these should be used for.

Hi, these bits of plastic are attached to the back of the plinth in your kitchen. The plinth clips then slide onto these, which then attach to the legs of your kitchen units to hold the plinth in place.

Do the handles come fitted to the doors? Or can these either be retrofitted afterwards by the kitchen fitter? Thanks

Hi, handles are not fitted to our kitchen units. These will be fitted by your kitchen fitter once all the units are installed and lined up.

I am looking to extend my kitchen by adding to the units already in place, I have doors 716mm tall for 1000mm base units and doors 570 mm tall and draw doors 141mm tall for drawer line base units. Will your cabinets be suitable for these doors since they are shown as 720mm tall.

    • Diy Kitchens says:

Hi, our kitchen units are standardised 720mm high and our doors are 715mm high. The 5mm difference is so that the doors open without scraping the edges of drawers for example. Our sizes are the industry standard and the sizes you quoted look the same as ours. Take a look at the page below for some examples https://www.diy-kitchens.com/kitchen-doors/high-gloss/
