One of the most practical additions you can make at the same time as planning your new kitchen is the addition of a Boot Room.

A boot room provides a dedicated space for shoes, coats, bags and outdoor essentials, helping your kitchen stay clean, clutter-free and welcoming.

One of the biggest advantages of creating a boot room alongside your kitchen is that both spaces can often be built using the same high-quality kitchen units. Matching cabinets, worktops and doors create a seamless look throughout your home while making the most of your available space.

Whether you choose a classic Shaker design or a contemporary handleless finish, your boot room can complement your kitchen perfectly.

The short video below shows how the boot room was constructed, step-by-step, using the items above.

Keep dirt at the door

Every family knows how quickly muddy boots, wet coats and school bags can take over the kitchen. A boot room creates a practical transition between outdoors and indoors, giving everyone a dedicated place to leave shoes, coats and umbrellas before entering the main living area.

This simple addition helps reduce dirt, mud and moisture being carried through your home.

Smart storage for everyday life

Boot rooms are designed around organisation. By using kitchen cabinets and tall storage units, you can create bespoke storage for everything your family needs.

Popular features include:

  • Tall cupboards for coats and jackets
  • Bench seating with hidden storage underneath
  • Shoe drawers or pull-out storage
  • Open shelving for hats and gloves
  • Hooks for school bags and dog leads
  • Cabinets for cleaning products and pet supplies

A boot room quickly becomes one of the hardest-working spaces in the home. Children can store school bags, PE kits and football boots in one convenient place, making busy mornings far less stressful.

Dog owners also love the convenience of having a dedicated area for leads, towels, treats and muddy paws after countryside walks. Some homeowners even include a sink for washing boots or cleaning pets before they enter the house.

Because our kitchen units are available in a wide range of sizes, it’s easy to design a boot room that fits perfectly, whether you have a spacious extension or a small hallway.

The benefits of matching your kitchen

Designing your kitchen and boot room together offers several advantages.

Using the same units creates a consistent appearance throughout your home, while ordering everything together can simplify the installation process and reduce delivery costs.

Matching worktops, handles and finishes also give your property a premium, professionally designed feel.

Because the same kitchen units are used, you don’t need specialist boot room products. Standard kitchen base units, wall cabinets and tall housings can all be adapted to create practical and attractive storage solutions that look like they were always part of the home.

Add value to your home

Modern buyers increasingly look for homes that offer practical storage as well as beautiful living spaces. A well-designed boot room adds everyday convenience while helping your property stand out.

As homes become more open-plan, homeowners appreciate having a dedicated area where clutter can be hidden away from the main kitchen and living space.

A well-planned boot room is an investment that adds value, improves organisation and helps your kitchen remain the heart of a tidy, functional home.
