Colour matched skirting board

We are excited to announce that with the launch of our new Bramley skinny shaker kitchen, we have now introduced colour matched skirting boards!

Over the years, skirting board use below kitchen units has become more and more popular, and we have been inundated with requests to start supplying these items. So, we listened, got the product designed and now it’s available to buy on our website here!

Which kitchen style is skirting board available for?

Our skirting board is available on all our painted solid wood shaker & inframe kitchens, such as Bramley & Helmsley.

The skirting board is painted in the same colour as the kitchen you select, and with our unrivalled paint facilities, we are able to colour match to any colour reference you desire, using our hard-wearing polyurethane paints, specially formulated in Italy for use on our kitchen products.

What’s included with the shaker kitchen skirting board kit?

The shaker kitchen skirting board kit consists of 2 pieces, the top rail for attaching to the units and the skirting board itself.

Fixing kit shaker

Watch the video below, which shows the gluing method to attach the skirting board around the unit. A 3rd piece, a bottom baton is also required, which you could glue to the floor. This rail can be made from any leftover wood that you have. The bottom rail is something you will need to source and create.

If wanted to buy some MFC material to do this from us then the cheapest option would be a piece of MFC Sheet Unit Material (18mm thick), available here. A piece 1000mm x 1000mm would get you 20 packer pieces (1000mm wide x 50mm deep) and would cost an additional £25.50.

Take a look at the technical diagram at the end of this article for information on sizes and how everything fits together.

What’s included with the inframe kitchen skirting board kit?

The inframe kitchen skirting board kit, the same as the shaker one above, consists of 2 pieces, the top rail for attaching to the units and the skirting board itself. But, you need an extra piece for inframe kitchens.

Fixing kit inframe

For an inframe skirting board installation, you need a 3rd piece to pack the fitting rail down by 18mm, as the frame on inframe kitchens, drops down by 18mm. We recommend ordering this MFC filler panel to do it (2300 x 18 x 100mm). This will give you 4300mm of packer material, once it has been cut in half.

A 4th piece, a bottom baton is also required, which you could glue to the floor. This rail can be made from any leftover wood that you have from the kitchen installation.

It’s up to your kitchen fitter to determine which method of fixing is preferred for the skirting board installation. Gluing is shown in the video, but you may prefer to nail it into position or use magnets or other fixing methods. Some kitchen fitters pin the skirting board, so it is fixed, but the only downside to this is if you need to get access to under the units.

Watch the video below, which shows the gluing method to attach the skirting board around the unit.

Take a look at the technical diagram at the end of this article for information on sizes and how everything fits together.

What size is the skirting board?

The size of the skirting board is 2770mm wide, 125mm high and 18mm deep. The skirting board comes in straight pieces and is to be cut down on site as required.

Please note that this skirting board cannot be used with curved base units.

You can order skirting board kits from our plinths page here.

Dishwasher Solution

Our skirting plinth comes in two parts, an L shaped bracket and then the front face. The bracket is fitted beneath the unit and then the front face is attached to this.

In order to make this work with a dishwasher, you run the l bracket along the units then, where the dishwasher is, you cut out the top part (which was the part attached to the bottom of the unit – (red line in the image below).

This then leaves a space for the dishwasher door to open into. It will also work with the longer inframe doors, as the height of the front face can be scribed appropriately. Please see the image below for reference.
