If you don’t know the difference between a sink waste kit and a plumbing kit then don’t worry, as they both do sound very similar! The information below will tell you exactly what they are, so that there is no ambiguity, and the answer is as clear as day.
Sink waste kits
All the sinks that we sell, are supplied with a sink waste kit. Waste kits are the bit that sits in the plug hole that makes a watertight seal, for the water to flow out into the plumbing/drainage system. A sink waste kit typically comprises of the following:
- Waste mechanism to create a watertight seal.
- A plug or sink drain strainer.
Sink plumbing kits
The water flows out of a sink through the sink waste, straight into a series of pipes and bends, known as a plumbing kit. These plumbing kits aren’t supplied with our sinks, unless specified in the specification section, on the sink’s product page.
Due to the fact that everyone’s kitchen setup is different, the plumbing below a sink, may need to accommodate the likes of a dishwasher or a washing machine. This would require the plumbing below the sink to be adapted, to allow the flow of water from the appliances and sink, to flow outside at the same time.
Before buying a plumbing kit for your sink, just take 5 minutes to think about your kitchen layout, and what will need to be attached to it. This will allow you to buy the correct plumbing kit first time and save problems later on down the line.
